Soccer Season!

Kayli and Aidan had their first soccer games of the season today. They both did great! Both of them played against teams with players they knew from school. They both had fun and enjoyed playing.

Kayli’s team name this year is Sky Fire. Their colors are orange and blue. Kayli’s team lost 1-0. The two teams were very well matched and it really could have gone either way.

Aidan’s team name this year is Blue Waves. Their color is light blue. They don’t keep score in Aidan’s game.

Our Cheetah Girls

The neighborhood girls have formed their own version of The Cheetah Girls. They have assigned the members of the group different jobs – wardrobe, make-up, choreography and song writing. They have written several songs that are actually pretty good, they rhyme and have a proper beat. They got their wardrobe all set up today and had me do a photoshoot for them. I doubt they will take this much further before getting bored and moving on to something else. But I hope they at least have one concert so I can video tape it!

Happy 9th Birthday Kayli!

Today is Kayli’s 9th birthday. One more year till she moves up to double digits! She is such an energetic child and has so much personality. She is very outgoing and has tons of friends. Kayli’s favorite colors are pink, blue and purple. Her favorite tv show is “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”. Her favorite books are “The Boxcar Children” and “The Secrets of Droon”. Her favorite thing to wear are skooter skirts. She loves to play soccer, play outside and play on the computer. Her best friends are Julia, Dana and Mikayla.

Kayli Got Glasses

At Kayli’s last check-up with her doctor, they said we should have her eyes checked. So, she went for her first visit to the optometrist yesterday. They checked out her eyes and said that she has around 20/40 and should get glasses so she can see things in a distance better. She had a lot of fun picking them out and was very excited about getting them. I think she looks really cute in them.

My Rock Star Daughters

Talia and Kayli went to a birthday party at Justice on Sunday. It was a “Rock Star” theme party and they did their hair, make-up and nails and got the headsets and pink fingerless gloves. They had a great time.

My Favorite Banana Bread Recipe

Kayli and I made banana bread today. I’ve been looking all over for the recipe that I like to use. I haven’t been able to find it and had to use ones I got off internet. Today I finally located it! It is so good!!! I am putting the recipe here so I will never lose it again.

Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup softened butter
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (3 medium sized bananas)
• 2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:

Cream butter and sugar together. Add one egg at a time, beating till smooth. Blend in mashed bananas. In second bowl, stir flour with baking soda, baking powder, salt and nuts. Add to banana mixture stirring only to moisten. Transfer to greased/floured pan. Bake in 350 deg. F oven for 1 hour until inserted toothpick comes out clean. Let stand 10 minuts. Remove from pan and place on rack to cool. Wrap to store. Makes 1 loaf.

Girl Scout Day Camp

The girls went to a Girl Scout day camp this week. The theme this year was “Walk Like An Egyptian”. They had a great time and learned a lot about ancient Egypt too.

Kayli got stung by a bee again

We went with the neighbors to the local park for a picnic today. It was a gorgeous day for a picnic and so nice to have our lunch in the shade of a tree there. Our neighbors brought a soccer ball and all the bigger kids were playing out in the field. That’s when Kayli stepped on a bee and it stung her. I guess that will be the last time she plays soccer with no shoes on! Poor thing, she seems to always be the one to get stung.
