Happy Birthday Jared and Riley!

Today Jared and Riley turned five. I can’t believe they are already 5 years old! They are getting so big and able to do so much for themselves now. They are both such sweeties and have such a great imagination. It’s so much fun to watch them play. They come up with all kinds of interesting scenarios for their toys to act out.

For their birthday we got each of them a leapster and a tonka dumptruck. They also got a phlat ball, shrek shirt and spiderman Mr. Potatohead. They are having great fun playing with their new toys.

We can swing all by ourselves!

Riley has been able to swing himself for a few weeks now. Over the weekend, it click with Jared. They both love swinging so much. They will go out in the backyard and swing for the longest time! They are both very happy to be able to swing on their own now.

Exploding Paint Pen!

I was helping Kayli with a project this afternoon. I opened up a paint pen and it exploded all over the place! It got on Jared’s face and eye. I spent about 15 minutes running water in the eye to make sure I got it all out. His eye looks fine, isn’t red at all. But the paint is on his eyelids and face. I’m sure it will wear off eventually. He says his eye doesn’t hurt, so it must be fine.

Here’s a close-up of just the eye.

Twins’ Preschool Mother’s Tea

They had their annual Mother’s Tea at the Twin’s preschool yesterday. (Jared is in yellow and Riley is in blue.) The kids have been practicing songs for it for weeks! They all looked so cute singing the songs and doing the hand motions. Jared and Riley did very well, singing along and doing all the hand motions. After they finished their songs, the kids gave their mom’s the cards they had made and the planters they had painted, complete with a plant. Riley told me he painted it all purple because that was my favorite color. I felt so bad for the two little kids who didn’t have anyone there for them. Things like this are so important to a little child. I’m sure they will remember for a long time that their mom wasn’t there for them that day.

The Twins Visit the Dentist

I took the twins to the dentist to get their teeth cleaned today. In the past, taking them to the dentist has been quite the challenge. They throw a fit, won’t open their mouth for the dentist and are generally very uncooperative. Today was quite different. The hygienist called Jared back and he went all by himself! She said he was a big boy and could go by himself and that is just what Jared did. A bit later, they called Riley back and he went by himself as well. I kept expecting to hear screaming coming from them, but there was none. They did everything asked – including letting them take x-rays of their teeth. Their teeth are fine, but Jared has a lesion on the inside of his check that the dentist wants an oral surgeon to look at. I’ll make an appointment for that tomorrow. He said he didn’t think it was anything to worry about, but it was better to play it safe and get it checked out.

Jared and Riley’s Preschool Show

Jared and Riley had their preschool Christmas show last night. They sang two songs, “Away in a Manger” and “Open My Eyes to Your Heart Lord”. Jared and Riley both did great! They sang the songs and did the hand motions too. I was so proud of them! This morning when I dropped them off at school, their teacher told me how proud she was of them. She said that the twins had never done the hand motions in the practices so she was thrilled to see them doing the hand motions during the show.

Preschool Costume Parade

Today the twins preschool had a costume parade and Halloween party. Jared and Riley both loved wearing their costumes to school. They had fun parading around the school and then got to do “trunk-or-treat” and have a party. I told them that they already have too much candy. To which Riley replied, “I want to keep too much!”.

Pumpkin Patch Visit

This morning I took the boys and Falyn to the pumpkin patch. Grandma Nancy met us there. The first and last thing the boys did there was the haunted house. They loved it! They would have stayed there for hours running through it if I let them. They also enjoyed the rides, animals and playing in the tepees.
