Kayli Hurt Her Elbow

Kayli fell on her elbow last night at soccer practice. She can barely move it and says it hurts a lot. We spent today taking her to the doctor and getting x-rays. Luckily it isn’t broken, just a bad sprain. She has a sling to wear till it is better and she can’t play soccer till it stops hurting.

Kayli’s 13th Birthday

With Kayli turning thirteen today, we now have two teenagers in the house. She is growing into a lovely and talented young lady. She is super smart and a great musician and soccer player. We had a little family party for her tonight. We had promised her a pool party, but unfortunately it isn’t done yet. We aren’t sure right now if it will every get finished, but that is a subject for another post.

This was my pet rock when I was a child. Kayli has always asked for one and I finally found my old one to give to her.

Kayli First Day of 7th Grade

Kayli started 7th grade today. I can’t believe she has only one year left at St. Bonaventure and will then be in High School. It has gone by so fast. She is happy that some of her friends are in her class and she likes who she has for home room. I think this will be a great year for her.

Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school for Jared, Riley, Aidan and Kayli. They have all done great this year. Kayli got straight “A”s again and Aidan came close with only one “B+” and the rest “A”s. They are all excited about summer.

The day before the last day of school is Field Day. Here’s some pictures taken during that event.

1st Grade/6th Grade Picnic

The first graders and their 6th grade friends had their end of the year picnic today. They played games and had snacks. They all enjoyed the afternoon, even though it was very hot.

Kayli GS Bridging – Junior to Cadette

Today Kayli bridged from Junior to Cadette. I was so proud of her and all our the girls in our troop. This year the girls earned their Bronze Award. The girls helped clean-up Huntington Beach near the Pier. They created fliers, enlisted the help of friends and family, and spent hours picking up trash on the beach. We are very proud of how hard our girls worked to “make the world a better place” in earning this award. In addition to earning the Bronze Award, the girls learned all about the United Kingdom and taught other girls what they learned at Thinking Day. They also participated at the HBSU3 camp-out and taught other girls how to do Cat’s Cradle during the Camporee portion of the weekend. The girls have been learning about Cadette Girl Scouts this year and are excited to start working toward their Silver Award next year.

Working on the GS Bridging Display Meeting

Today Kayli’s Girl Scout group worked on their display for bridging. They put it together all by themselves and did a fantastic job. They picked out the paper and pictures and sprayed the board. They also learned all about being Cadettes during the meeting. They are all excited to be moving up to the next level of Girl Scouts and can’t wait to get started on their Silver Award.

Girl Scout Camp-Out

I spent the weekend camping with Kayli’s Girl Scout troop. We all had so much fun!

The first night there was a camp-fire sing-a-long and we made smores.

On Saturday we participated in a camporee, where every troop had a booth with an activity. Our girls did a cat’s cradle booth. Everyone seemed to really like learning cat’s cradle and we saw girls playing it during the rest of the weekend.

Saturday afternoon the girls went swimming. The pool had a really fun water slide.

Saturday night was skit night. Our girls performed their own version of the invisible bench skit. They did a great job of it.

Walking to the camp-fire.

Waiting to watch all the skits.

Sunday morning we had breakfast in the camp facility’s dining hall and then we had to break down camp. Then we went on a hike. We had heard there were cougars in the area and we saw paw prints while on our hike.

After that we went zip-lining and participated in a team building activity.

After that, it was time to go home. Everyone agreed that it was so much fun that they wanted to do it again next year.
